What is Banbo?

Banbo is a motor insurance app that provides a free service to its users and allows for the purchase of insurance policies and filing of claims on policies bought through the app. The app is available for download on the Google Play Store and App Store. Banbo is a proprietary product of Banbo Insurance Brokers Ltd, a company incorporated in Ghana and licensed by the National Insurance Commission for the provision of insurance brokerage services in Ghana.

What can Banbo be used for?

Banbo allows you to request for policy quotes from various insurance companies for your vehicle, compare the benefits that accompany the available policy options, select a policy and make payment on the app for the chosen policy to complete the policy subscription process. For all policies purchased using Banbo, users can start the process of filing claims on the app.

What policies are available on Banbo?

The motor insurance policies available on Banbo are;

  • Third party
  • Third party, fire and theft
  • Comprehensive

What is the process to purchase a policy?

To buy a policy,

  • Add a vehicle
  • Request for a quote
    This can be done in two ways. You may request for a quote from a specific insurer (by clicking on the explore button at the bottom on the home page) or by requesting for quotes from the list of insurance companies on Banbo by clicking the “Get a quote” tab beneath the added vehicle)
  • Select a policy
  • Make payment

What is the process to purchase a policy?

Banbo’s in-app payment feature allows you to make payment from any mobile money wallet in Ghana (i.e. MTN Mobile Money, Vodafone Cash and AirtelTigo Money).

Can I pay for my policy in installments?

Currently, Banbo does not allow for payment in installments. However, you may buy a motor insurance policy cover for a period of 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or 1 year on Banbo.

When can I use Banbo?

Banbo is available for use at all times. However, the processing of your policy is carried out by insurance companies whose services are not available around the clock. A purchase made outside the usual business hours (i.e. 8:00am to 5:00pm from Monday to Friday) will be deemed as made the next working day.

How do I receive my vehicle’s insurance policy documents?

After your policy is processed by the insurance company, your car insurance sticker and other policy documents will be sent to the e-mail address provided during your policy subscription. The hard copy documents can also be delivered to any location of your choice within Accra and Tema.

How long does it take for me to receive my insurance policy documents?

Policies purchased by 2:00pm on a working day are typically processed on the same day, hence policy documents are shared on the same day as well. Policies purchased outside the indicated time are processed on the next working day and documents shared with you on the same day.

Can I make a policy purchase for another person’s vehicle?

The app currently allows you to purchase a policy for just your vehicle. You may recommend the app to potential users to allow them to enjoy the benefits of using Banbo.

When & how do I make a claim on Banbo?

In the event of an accident or theft, you can make your claims using Banbo at any time of the day. You will be required to submit details such as a police report, driver’s license of the driver, photos of damage caused to property and your vehicle etc., by uploading and submitting these through the app. After this, a representative of Banbo will reach out to you.
